The P2Y was the predecessor to the PBY, both built by Consolidated. It was a twin-engine flying boat designed for patrol duty. It had a short wing atop the fuselage and, similar to the PBY, had a 100-foot parasol wing above. They became training airplanes exclusively by the end of 1941, located at NAS Pensacola.
