On 1938-Mar-25, VP-6 participated in Fleet Problem XIX (Phase V) as part of the Red Force, along with Patrol Squadrons VP-1, VP-4, VP-8, VP-10, VP-18. The slow patrol planes proved no match for anti-aircraft fire: most were "shot down" by the Blue Force.
