The SNV was another advanced two-seat land-based training airplane, similar to the SNJ but built by Vultee (and nicknamed the Vultee Vibrator). According to Wikipedia, this class of plane was used in the second phase of aviator training, in which the student had to learn to operate a two-way radio, flaps, and a variable-pitch propeller. The SNJ and SNV were heavier and more powerful than the Yellow Peril primary trainers.
